Procrastinating
Jonathan and I drove up to Willis to watch the UT National Championship game with Alan and Alex! The traffic to get there from UH was pretty crappy but it was a fun night :) I was really hoping that we would make a comeback during the last half but it wasn’t meant to be. It was still one hell of a game, especially with a freshman quarterback! Jordan Shipley was really impressive!
Jonathan,...
Looking Back on 2009
Saw this on Srimoyee’s and Kayla’s blog and thought it would be fun to do! :)
What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? These are the 3 that jump out at me: -Worked in the service industry! For some reason, I REALLY wanted to do this and am so glad that I had the opportunity to work @ P. Terry’s. I met a bunch of cool people and got to eat the delicious burgers...

Blurb
I was just thinking: I sincerely hope I retain as much knowledge as possible from opt school learnings!!!
There’s just so many things to know and such limited brain space (though Dr. Chino might beg to differ). I don’t know if any opt school ppl read this so I’m guessing that I’m the only person laughing at the last part of that sentence, haha.
Hm, I’m already kinda...
i'm a horrible blogger. horrible!
I don’t even remember when my last blog post was, but here I am!
I’ve finished my first semester of optometry school and I’ve done pretty well :D I think this semester was a good start in my optometric education. Let’s hope that the trend stays this way for the next 3.5 years! The one class that I had a lot of trouble in was gross anatomy lab. My thoughts on why it was so...

EXAM WEEK: THE FIRST
My first exam week of optometry school starts tomorrow at 8 AM.
8-10 AM —> Vision Science I 10:30-Noon —> Optometry I
I’ve been keeping up with all my lecture notes for this entire time and studying practically everyday, so…I hope I do well!
No concept has been TOO difficult to understand thus far, it’s just that the quantity of material that get thrown at us...
Long Day
This is the most tired I’ve felt, mentally and physically, in a while. Phew.
A brightspot from today- I got to carpool w/3 other people. We helped the environment a bit PLUS got to use the HOV lane! It only took ~30 minutes to get to UH. YES. I KNOW.
I…dislike Wednesdays very much.

2nd day of orientation wasn’t as fun as the first. For most of the day, we sat in our future lecture room listening to a bunch of people (Dr. Shulman, reps from different organizations, Beard Off Champion 2008, and financial aid rep). We have ALL of our lectures in ONE room. Convenient? Yes! Exciting/comfortable/prevents bloodclots from forming in legs? No. There are a couple of student...
The First Day of my Professional Optometric Life
That’s a pretty hefty title, ain’t it?
I just came back from the first day of UHCO Orientation and it was pretty fun! I was excited and a tad nervous going into it, but everyone I’ve met so far have been cool. Each student was allowed to bring a maximum of two guests for the first day, so I brought my mom and Jonathan. They even made little necklace name badges for them!
I...
I'm back!
I’m back from Europe! Jonathan and I arrived @ IAH yesterday during the early afternoon and today I don’t feel too jetlagged…but I forgot if I get delayed jetlag, so we’ll see how I am tomorrow.
I actually kept a travel diary with the ol’ pen-and-paper during my time abroad. I haven’t updated since Switzerland, so I haven’t written about half my trip....
Bye Bye Austin
Moving away from Austin was really hard but surprisingly easy too.
I don’t know how to explain that…I guess knowing that it’s only a 3-hour drive away and that I have Jonathan and some friends there is comforting. Also, I haven’t been able to let the fact that I’ve moved away from Austin sink in.
I came back to Sugar Land around 7 PM on Thursday, ate dinner w/my...

Sunrise, Sunset
This is the latest I’ve stayed up in a LONG time. I thought it would’ve been really nice to watch an Austin sunrise w/Jonathan before I leave this beautiful city…but he’s sleeping :( Then again I dragged him along with me this whole night so he deserves his rest!
Since it’s so close to sunrise (supposed to be @ 6:48 AM today), I’m going to stay up to watch it...
Man, I’m not updating this blog as often as I’d wanted. Whoops! Hm, is it “whoops” or “woops?” I like the one with the h better for some reason.
In the week since I last posted, many good things happened!
Went on a couple of bike rides around Austin with Jonathan. I didn’t think I could keep up with him with all the hills, distance, and heat, but it...
kinda long time, no post
Hello world!
I like the music choices of the peoples @ JP’s Java. I’m dancing in my chair…more like wiggling awkwardly, but that’s cool too.
I actually got up before 10:30 today!
O.O
I know.
7:30 was the time and I was wide-awake! I even finished one of my new books, The Haunting of Hill House, while Jonathan groggily slammed the snooze button many, many times. The...
I finished going through the list of Austin wedding venues this afternoon! I picked 26 and someday I’ll have to narrow the list down even more.
You know what? I really want to sing in a choir or some type of ensemble again. I sang in a choir since 4th grade all the way up until I graduated high school. Throughout the four years of undergrad, I told myself I should find time to join one of...
whaaaat?
I spent, like, 1-2 hours yesterday looking at wedding venues in Austin online. I think it’s because I watched 2 episodes of Bridezillas during the weekend. I didn’t know there are soooooo many venues in and around Austin!
I found this great site, www.austinweddingblog.com, that has a pretty long list of wedding venues. I went through 1/3 of the list, noting which ones caught my eye....
Independence Day '09
My family came up to Austin for the 4th! Huzzah! They were originally going to go to South Padre but I suggested that they come up and see me :)
To try to beat the rush, we went to Barton Springs before noon, and it worked! There was no line at the gate and plenty of room to spread out towels under the trees. Sarah remembered to bring our childhood pool noodles so we had four noodles in all!...
Summer of good movies
Hollywood actually made some damn fine movies this summer. I’m pleasantly surprised :)
I really enjoyed Up though I cried I don’t know how many times while watching it. It had great characters, a touching story, and really cool animation.
Jonathan and I watched Public Enemies yesterday night and it was awesome! The family in front of us were annoying as s**t but the greatness of the...
Fact about me
inamidnighttalk:
If I eat something sweet I have to have something salty afterwards! Is that weird?
Sorry my comment is incomplete…I accidentally pressed “enter” and now tumblr won’t let me edit it. Stupid tumblr! But, no, it’s not weird! I’ve been like that ever since I can remember.
Workzzzz
I felt the need to make an entirely new post for my work going-ons for some reason.
I’m working 5 days this week. This is the first time I’m working that much in one week! I got a little grumpy at the end of my shift tonight, but then I think of the fact that I only have 2 more days this week to go! and of the monies I’m making! Positive thinking! And I shouldn’t...
it's july already?!
Jonathan and I went to the HEBz yesterday b/c we have a whole new line-up of foods we’re cooking this week :)
We made the salmon thing again yesterday b/c it was so delicious! When I came home from work a couple of minutes ago, it smelled like rotting produce. We discovered it was the discarded salmon skin in the trash. I don’t know why it smelled like rotting produce instead of...

Busy Weekend
Hmm, so what all went on during the weekend?
***I apologize for the super-long post!*** 1. Went to work Friday evening feeling a little nauseous but then the nausea got worse with all the heat and the sweating behind the counter. Garrett said I was pregnant. I told him that I will name my child after him since he’s the first person to know, even before me. Anyways, I felt sicker as the...
Haircut?
i’m thinking of getting a haircut. and getting bangs again. but then i think about how long i’ve been trying to grow out both my hair and bangs and it makes me reluctant. i can’t get away from my liking of short-medium length hair!! long hair is really pretty and you can style it in many different ways, but then i don’t style it, so what’s the point?

@ JP's Java and am trying to pass the time
yesterday was quite relaxing and fun! Jonathan and i jogged at town lake around noon and we ran more than we thought we would! it was pretty freakin’ hot but not as hot as we thought it was going to be b/c there was some cloud coverage. huzzah for cloud coverage!
i’m going to try jogging on all the days i don’t have work, so that should work out to me jogging around 3...
Beans and Bananas!
I always feel the need to put a title on my posts even though it’s optional…
Yesterday was my last day in lab :) :( I made, looked at, and printed out a phylogenetic tree containing my three isolates, moved my freezer box into the storage-freezer-of-no-return, and left. It was that quick and easy. I’m going to Katie’s going-away party this Saturday, so that might be the...
my blog's theme
i like how this theme looks like. with the crumpled paper tabs, deteriorating manila folder borders around the text, and the unobtrusive red paper clip in the corner…it all feels very good and homey to me.
the only thing that bothers me is the header…what’s up with the HUGE iPhone dominating it? iPhones are all well and good, but come on! -________-
Being Responsible and Healthy
I actually went into lab today like I planned to! *High Five!* AND I, with the help of Aishwarya, the grad student I work with, figured out how to work the RDP website so I can ID what genuses my isolates are in! **Double High Five!**
Seeing that the most difficult part of what I had left to do is now finished, I am pretty sure that tomorrow will be the last time I will have to do anything in...
A new era?
I left my old and dated blog, Xanga, to fall into new, up-and-coming tumblr’s arms. I’m starting a new part of my life, so why not start a new blog?
Quick(?) summary of Summer 2009 so far:
Started working @ P. Terry’s mid-April and plan on continuing to do so until the end of July. I’ve always wanted to try working in the service industry, more particularly, the food...
